Day 4

I know, I know I am late..but, we took a quick trip to Louisiana..it was so quick there was no time to post..but, think of the bright side..you get two songs in one day..your excitement is just pouring over in anticipation..

When I made my list..I picked all 9 at once..because I did not want any outside forces influencing me..and part of the fun ( for me) has been the passing in life comments or emails about what song someone would have chosen...

Anyway, my next song..I have loved since I first heard it 3 years ago..on sunny 99.1..all Christmas songs for the holidays..I love Bing Crosby's version best..he has such a timeless.. rich voice..I never stopped and pondered about what it could be about..and just in a time filler one afternoon the disc jockey explained the meaning of the song..and it made me love it..more..

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was filled with sorrow at the tragic death of his wife in a fire in 1861. The Civil War broke out that same year, and it seemed this was an additional punishment. Two years later, Longfellow was again saddened to hear that his own son had been seriously wounded as a lieutenant in the Army of the Potomac.

Sitting down to his desk, one Christmas Day, he heard the church bells ringing, and ringing. It was in this setting he wrote:

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
And in despair I bowed my head
There is no peace on earth I said
For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep,
God is not dead, nor doth he sleep.
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men.

At Christmas time, whether you feel sorrow (God knows this has been a rough year..for many) or in joy, you can know God is not dead, and does not sleep. He knows your every need and longs to comfort you. We all need to seek Him this year instead of all the outward manifestations of the season. He will give your life real meaning and your heart real peace, the peace that passes all understanding.

Hope the song was worth the wait..Oh, could not find my favorite version...I know shocking..shocking..But, I do like this version..alot
