Day 2

This was the song that made me realize that I could do something to help others...I remember the day I first heard this song..like it was yesterday..I was watching Mtv..when it had videos..and they world premiered this video..and I sat there in amazement..that I could actually do something to help these people so..far away...And then it hit me..we had poor here..

I bought the 45 and that was my first taste of 'giving back.' I would listen to that song..over and over..singing out..'feed the world..let them know its Christmas time..' Not really knowing what to do what all these strong feelings..

Michael Jackson's song man in the mirror came out after that..and it lit a fire under me..

My goal is to make my children charitable..and to help them find ways to share their talents..Every night when I tuck them in..we pray that we will use our talents for God's praise..to offer him Thanksgiving..what better way then to help the poor..right here in our backyard.. My console is filled with snacks for those poor souls on the side of the road...Mary Grace has opened her lunch box on the way to school and taken something out to give the homeless man.. Emily gave all her allowance to school in Africa..The true gift is when you can do it without probing but, with smile.

This song started it all..this was the song that woke me up..and made me realize that it was not all about me.. that is quite a lesson to learn when your 10 and the world says it is all about you..

Maybe it will light a fire in you..that has been smoldering for a while..
