Will you remember where you were today...

What a monumental day..we have our first African American president...today..A group of people in our parents day who were segregated..sat in the back of the bus, drank out of a different water fountain..today..one of their own..is running the greatest country in the world...

Today, I was at Logan's orthodontics appointment..reading the most uplifting novel, The Glass Castle..yes, that is sarcasm you hear..

I happen to just glance around and notice in the corner is an older looking African American gentlemen..with a mini television on his lap..I closed my book and walked over to him..and said "Sir, would you mind if I shared this moment with you?"

He smiled a huge smile..dusted off the seat next to him and put the television between us..After President Obama was sworn in he looked me in the eyes with excitement in his voice and said, " I cant imagine anyone else that I would have wanted to share this moment with.."

I did not vote for Obama..but, am standing behind him..now..because he is our president..That is why I love our country..We vote..and even if our candidate does not win..we stand behind the one that did...without riots or killings..or force used..We stand together..

I am not really a true red Republican..and not a true blue Democrat either..I am a bit of both..a combination..I guess I lean..purple..

I've been crying all day. And praying for him--what a long road he has ahead of him. Good post. I, too, have HOPE.

I cried yesterday too..b/c I couldn't bear to watch any of it at all, yet I am praying...praying and praying that the RIGHT decisions will be made. There is no doubt there will some very difficult decisisons to come.
