The Wonder Years

The other day I was sitting in the car, and Joe Cocker started belting out, " I get by with a little help with my friends.." You know the song..Anyway I got all warm and fuzzy..Why did this song make me so happy..then I remembered, "The Wonder Years.." I loved that show..I loved the life lessons, I loved Winnie and Kevin..and Wayne..and the music..Then I had a brilliant idea..I was going to buy the DVD's and we would have family time..There are no family programs..so I would make our own..Well it was much harder to find than I thought..long story short, it is not available on DVD because of musical licensing problems...But, after searching around I found a website called ioffer.com..Reminds me of a little of ebay. This seller had all 115 episodes on DVD..

I got the DVD's in last week, and we started to watch them yesterday. It was so good to see the old faces again..It was amazing to me that even though it was supposed to take place in the 60's..some things are timeless
...It has opened up some great dialogue. And, isn't that what family shows are all about...opening a door to a discussion that might not have come up...junior high is awkward for everyone, you never forget your first love, you can go through anything when someone has your back, you can beat and tease your sibling but no one else can, your mom and dad started out crazy in love with far fetched dreams, and all of the anti war/ pro war episodes sound exactly like what we hear today..the same debate from the 60's is happening 40 years later just about a different part of the world in a different country.

Best 20.00 I ever spent
..
