Homesick

Ever since the Saints won..I have been mega home sick..I mean..my stomach just ached...

So, I decided to brave the world and drive us ( the kids..and me) ..all the way..home..for spring break.

Now, I know..you are thinking.."really, Susan..a 6 hour trip is not..that far.."

But this is me..the one who is perfectly content always being the passenger..who refers to Houston as never-never land..the one when people make plans they include..'and I will swing by and pick up Susan, and you can bring her home.' really.

So it was kind of a big deal for me..But, lately I have been all about facing my fears.

And, guess what..I made it..even though I had to drive over some monstrous bridges..that I forgot about..and thought to myself..seriously..what was I thinking..but, it was another fear faced..right.

The reward was we had such a wonderful time..

When we drove up the city..and I rolled down my windows..and the smell of New Orleans..greeted me..my heart literally lept with happiness..

We started the day with Mrs. Ann and Uncle Joey..we went to the Aquarium ..

strolled down the Riverwalk..

ate some gumbo..had beignets for dessert, walked to the cathedral, and browsed the French Market...

The next day.. we went on down to the Audobon Zoo where they all asked for you.. with my mom and my brother Mark..

and celebrated my mom's birthday..Claire kept asking, "Nanny, are you enjoying your party?"

It was such a beautiful day..and we had so much fun..

Shane came a few days later..and I happily returned to my spot..as the passenger.

lez le bon temps roule!
